Flourish was written for the Miami University Horn Studio as a way to demonstrate the abilities of the players, and the capabilities of the instrument.
Throughout the entire piece, the fast-paced ostinato is passed along through each part, thus allowing for each player to contribute to the rhythm of the piece. The expressive melody showcases the versatile range of the horn, thus displaying the low tones and the high notes that instrument is capable of producing.
